I have been working at BMO Capital Markets full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Some of the best culture of any investment bank I've worked at or heard about. Every bank says they have good culture, but until you're in the office at BMO does it really become clear.

Also, the nature and size of my particular team and office allowed for me to have a much more involved learning experience right off the bat compared to bigger banks and offices.

    Cons

BMO doesn't quite have the same prestige of other banks. Pays in line with bulge brackets though. You're basically trading prestige for a better work-life balance and engaged work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The prestige will come with time. Only suggestion would be to make sure you're hiring only the best talent from the best school in ALL offices.

Recruitment process started with off-campus recruiting event specific to my school. Next, on-campus interviews by alumni, then on-site interviews by several higher-level employees within the investment bank. Most questions were oriented around my background as I explained it to them during the interview. The experience was not intimidating. The atmosphere was fairly laid back in comparison to other investment banking interviews I had. People were more interested in seeing how interested I was in the bank than if I was prepared technically. It seemed like the assessment/screening was more mutual than on-sided. It felt more like a discussion than a talent show.
