I have been working at BalaBit It Kft full-time (More than 8 years)
You get to work with exceptional people on exceptional projects. The upper management has a good mindset, they care and think about the well-being of those working here and that more-or-less radiates down to the lower level. Mixes the Silicon Valley-wannabe vibe (free cofee, free beer, table soccer, meetups, hackathons, true agile development, BDD, the whole nine yards) with a more conservative/oldschool geekish/Hungarian corporate culture quite well to make it fun but not pretentious.
It is not a startup anymore and not yet a large company where everything would go smooth and efficient and that causes problems. If you are not really interested security or especially enterprise security, the projects could seem a bit boring -- you are not building stuff your friends would likely use. Even though the company is globally focused on the selling side, inside, it is still very Hungarian sometimes and if you are a foreigner you might feel left out.
Advice to Management
Don't let the growth change you and keep caring about the people working there and about the purpose of the company.
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Accepted OfferNeutral ExperienceAverage Interview
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at BalaBit It Kft.
First round is a short phone interview with recruiter. She sent an url for an online test, which consisted of a quiz with free-word answers and a task for writing a script. Then I was asked for a personal interview with the recruiter and the development director, who asked some logical questions and tried to find a position and team based on the experiences and preferences he heard from me. After that, a technical interview of about 2 hours followed with some team members. The next round was the offer and a more personal interview with the rest of the team members. Negotiation was done by mail.
