I have been working at Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Sense of shared goals and purpose. NCI designated comprehensive cancer center. Friendly, inclusive working environment Dedication to serving the community

    Cons

Increasingly "corporate" attitude is colliding with non-profit values. The result is the formation of an executive culture that tends be more cut-throat and more profit driven than ever before. This is leading to a wave of uneasiness throughout the organization. KCI is increasingly pushing its employees to do more and more with fewer resources and less support.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on developing and encouraging great employees. They are the organization's greatest asset and, yet, they are being worked to the brink of exhaustion with no relief and no recognition for the incredible work product and the amazing success that they pull off, day in and day out.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (Detroit, MI) in August 2014.

    Interview

their recruiter called me within 10 days after online application. I was told to reschedule the interview three times because the manager was unavailable. Interview went well but manager seemed to be rushing in the middle of the interview. Also, seemed uninterested.
