I worked at Bauer Publishing USA part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This is a good company that treats employees well when it comes to perks i.e. "Free Breakfast Fridays," summer hours, and is great for your resume.

    Cons

Very high turnover rate, many people do not stay more than a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Probably check in with lower level employees more often and give some kind of counseling on how they can move up in the company.

    Application Details

I applied online – interviewed at Bauer Publishing USA in October 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online. Spoke with a recruiter who had little information important for discussions about jobs: no salary info, no team hierarchy and couldn't even get specific about the actual publications the role was to work on. Afterwards, sent a "questionnaire" that was filled with a half dozen essay questions that one would expect in an interview, not a pre-screen. Furthermore, the questions had little to do with the job at hand, and seemed highly incongruent with their current digital strategy. (6 essay questions involving SEO, social strategy, and e-commerce seems like overkill for a company whose social strategy seems to be of the lowest common denominator.)

Lastly, recruiter used "start-up" to describe the company. Bauer is far from a start-up.

    Interview Questions
    • Recruiters questions were not difficult. Questions like "What publications does this role work on?" and "What is the salary range for this position?" were difficult for recruiter to answer. Beware.   Answer Question
