I have been working at BigCommerce full-time for less than a year

Personally, I love my job. It's a great culture (awesome benefits, great office with stocked kitchen, free food, casual dress, great co-workers) - I am in sales and I make really good money. I work a typical M-F 40 hour workweek and can take PTO when I need to and still make really good money each month. I've worked in many sales roles where PTO is discouraged or if you take time off, you won't hit your quota. That is not the case here. Goals are fair and management is very transparent, particularly with the future of the company. Weekly meetings with CFO, etc. Fun contests to motivate staff. I really enjoy being at work!

Constant change (this doesn't bother me and is to be expected at a start-up) - you must be willing to embrace change and just go with it.

Sometimes people bring their kids to work and they run around the office unattended. That can be distracting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer a more clearly defined career path with ways to either earn more shares or a higher base. Other than that, great job Bigcommerce!

    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days - interviewed at BigCommerce in April 2014.

    Interview Details

I was approached by headhunter. Went through phone screening with Headhunter and was chosen to speak with client. Had initial interview, that went well and was told I would move to next round. Never heard back. Seemed to be going through quite a bit of changes and turnover. I was on the fence about going further due to all the changes "growing pains".
