In an effort to develop a pipeline of high caliber talent with the intention of hiring interns upon graduation, the Blackhawk Network Internship Program is designed to introduce college students to Blackhawk. The goal is to recruit talented students to work on meaningful projects, make a contribution to the organization, and ultimately extend the students' learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom setting.

 

There are several requirements Blackhawk considers when recruiting our Interns: 

  • Student should be in their Junior or Senior year of college (should not have graduated college).
  • Student’s college major and skill-set should be applicable to the open intern assignment.
  • Both the Hiring Manager and Student’s long-term goal would to be hired into a FTE position upon graduation.

 

The intern program is structured to benefit the organization and to allow the student an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional work environment. Throughout their assignment, Interns have an opportunity to network with other interns at various events, partner with a manager with a professional background within the career field represented by the internship, and present a final project to Blackhawk Network employees outlining the experience gained during their assignment.

    Pros

    Expanding employee programs, flexibility, caring employer, growth and innovation. The company has grown quite a bit in the last 2 years yet they still value the input of their employees. At times it feels like a very large company yet at times it still feels like a small start up environment.

    Cons

    Could use additional internal training programs and learning modules.

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Blackhawk Network.

    Interview Details

    I was contacted via LinkedIn and after reviewing the company I responded to the recruiter. I completed 2 phone interviews and then asked to come into the office where I met with the hiring managers. During each step of the process I was very comfortable and enjoyed the discussions. As with any interview it is best to be yourself and answer truthfully any questions. I recommend bringing some questions as its important to ensure the company is a good fit to your work style and expectations.
