I worked at Blackmore Partners (Less than a year)
A lot of exposure if you work on deals - Gain insight into different industries - Work with outside senior level executives on looking into company financials and putting deals together - Every few days you get the chance to interact with an IB, broker or PE firm. - The MD and the Deal Partner both have many years of experience in the industry. You can always learn from them. Most people in the office are recent grads or people still in school. So overall it's a fun office when it's not busy. There isn't a lot of hard skills you can learn. But the overall experience can be useful when you look for the next job.
Strict hours from 8 to 5. But I heard it's more flexible now. Some senior interns will be asked to lead the newer interns, this can be uncomfortable for some people. Not everyone at BMP will get to work on deals. If you are new and do not have much clue about what's going on, you will most likely be supporting others. But even if you work on deals, the work is not always that exciting.
Advice to Management
Most interns do appreciate the chance to get some exposure. I would advise the management to make the interns feel more appreciated in return. The new policy on flexible hours is a good start. Advice to income interns: if you are extended an offer and choose to accept it, please look up "Private Equity Independent Sponsor". The sooner you understand BMP's business model, the sooner you will begin working on deals.
