    Pros

I've never been surrounded by such smart, talented, and passionate people. You get to work on really unique projects which are vetted to meet the company's progressive standards. You get unprecedented exposure to levels and challenges within organizations, and can really help them solve their problems -- all with people that you like working with. It's a casual atmosphere, and the intent of creating a great place to work, push the work forward, while taking care of your people is seen throughout leadership and executive decisions.

    Cons

Processes are constantly being revised and re-introduced to help address growth, and resourcing can be a challenge given the large amount of projects coming in with a small staff.

    Advice to Management

Be open to feedback and keep on caring for your people. It's really unique.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral – interviewed at Blue State Digital.

    Interview

The interview was over the phone with two people on the other line and lasted a little over 30 minutes. The questions were ones anyone would really expect for an interview at a marketing agency, what's your favorite campaign? what do you like about it? And many questions were based off of ones in the application. They focused on a dream client and what you wanted to take away from your summer with BSD. It was a little awkward because when I was answering they had themselves muted so when I was finished giving my answer there was always a good 2-3 seconds of dead air before they un-muted themselves.

We work with some of the world’s leading nonprofits, advocacy groups, and brands to mobilize their communities to take action. We got our start on the campaign trail, but right away we understood that the same people-focused and data-driven strategies that helped elect four presidents (including Barack Obama twice) could benefit other organizations, too.
