I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time (more than 8 years)

Excellent salary for the job, great benefits and training opportunities.

Difficult to change positions/advance unless you are upper management. Culture is a bit male-oriented. Executive leadership is a bit selfish, bent on their own ways rather than what's best for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company is stellar and has a long proud history of protecting its members. Put the company first.

    Interview Details

I applied online and heard from human resources a month later. Human resources conducted a brief phone interview. They asked about my job history and why I wanted to work at Blue Cross. For the face to face interview, I was interviewed by the head of the department that the position was in. Another administrative assistant in the department sat in for the interview. Both of them did most of the talking during the interview describing duties and the contrasting personalities of the doctors in the department. It was very difficult to get a word in between them. It was a very disorganized and disjointed interview. I was also asked if I had children, which I thought was extremely inappropriate. I had the interview two weeks ago and have not heard back. I was told they would let me know either way. I am going to assume I did not get the position.
