I have been working at Booker Group full-time (more than 10 years)Pros
Its employment and they pay you (but never the right amount).Cons
Too many egotistical managers who will regularly shout, tell off and belittle colleagues in the middle of the workplace in front off their co-workers.
Poor communication with management, who only seem to approach you when there is something to complain about.
Bad health and safety procedures (corresponded about numerous issues to management regularly who would have no interest whatsoever)
Impossible to book holidays sometimes - even up to 6 months in advance
Parking facilities overcrowded to the point where most days you would have to park you vehicle off companys site.
On site Union representatives spend most time keeping the shift managers informed rather than the colleagues that pay the union fees.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Better training for managers on colleague management and understanding.
Shift managers especially, need to have a cooler more professional approach when dealing with fellow colleagues.
Better health and safety all round.
Better parking facilities.
Holiday hours that can actually be booked at less than 6 months notice.
Union that represents the work colleagues and not the shift managers.Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookApproves of CEO

- Application Details
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Booker Group.Interview Details
I applied online, I was called the following week to attend an interview. During the interview the branch manager didn't really ask anything, he spoke about the store and asked general questions like 'what do you know about booker?' 'what do you think of this store?' Etc. But for advice I would do my research anyway and make sure that you are up to date with knowledge on customer service (skills) as they are really keen on that. The interview took 15 to 30 minutes. The next day I was called back for a trial run for the following week, the trail run consisted of working on the check outs and after that I was offered the job on the spot.Interview QuestionsNegotiation DetailsThe hours are suited to you, and they give you extra if you want.Accepted OfferPositive ExperienceEasy Interview
