I have been working at Braum's part-time (less than a year)

    - Decent amount of hours if you're not in school and make yourself available for just about any shift
    - 15% discount on anything in both the restaurant and fresh market, mostly useful on Thrift baked goods and stacking on top of Store Deals (I.E. 2 for $6 ice cream 3-pints)
    - Payrate is above minimum wage -- goes from $8 to $8.75 over time
    - (Personal) Closeby to home, just a 3 minute drive or 25-30 minute walk
    - (Personal) friendly coworkers who generally like and dislike the same managers as you, interchangeability with those in a similar position to you (I.E. I have 2 coworkers who perform the same duties as me about as well as I do and thus I can give them some of my hours or a whole shift)

    - Customers can get overwhelming on holidays and truck-days, where 6+ people all slam in line on one register at the same time
    - Upper management will pin problems on you if you happen to be around at the time
    - No free breakfasts or lunches, no free coffee
    - Expect to not get a lunch break every so often if you work Fresh Market, whether due to being the only cashier there or due to working from morning to 1:30 (no one can take a break from 11 to 1:30, and more often than not the manager(s) take care of the restaurant employees first)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace one of the registers with a self-checkout enabled system to help on busy days or when only 1 cashier is available. Allow employees to at least eat at the register if they cannot be given a break. Consider replacing rusted or broken equipment rather than waiting for it to fall apart entirely at the seams; several metal bunkers have literal rips in them and should be considered a health hazard putting even packaged food on them, shelving for ice cream squares are lopsided and don't provide adequate spacing for how many ice cream squares we receive.

Ice cream means cold cash for Braum's. W. H. Braum operates a chain of about 280 Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Stores in Oklahoma, Texas, and a handful of other states. Popular for its ice cream and other frozen treats, the chain also serves breakfast items, sandwiches, and salads. In addition, the stores sell grocery items such as milk, cheese, and other dairy products, along with baked goods. The family-owned company has more than 10,000 dairy cows and grows its own cattle feed. Family patriarch Henry Braum started the business in 1933, opening a chain of Peter Pan ice... More
