Generous paid time-off program
BWH's unique Benefit Time program is a flexible paid time-off program giving you up to 29 days off every year — and 33 days off after 7 years of employment. This includes vacation, holidays, and sick time. You also accrue 5 days a year into an extended sick leave bank. This time is available to you should you become ill and need more than five days off.

- Partners Value- This plan is free to benefit eligible employees and their dependents after one year of service!

The Partners Plus and Partners Value plan is administered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield and encompasses a very large and comprehensive network of top hospitals located throughout New England, including BWH!
All deductions are pre-tax and extend to you, your family, eligible dependents, and same-sex domestic partners. Of course, if you're already covered under someone else's plan, you can opt out of BWH's health coverage and receive a supplement to your paycheck instead.
60% coverage offered at no charge to employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees can purchase an additional supplemental 15% at date of hire without evidence of insurability form.
Tax Sheltered Annuities
Allows you to save money and plan for retirement through pre- and post-tax payroll deductions.
Flexible Spending Accounts
All employees are eligible to open flexible spending accounts that will reimburse you for out-of-pocket dependent or healthcare costs. Contributions to these accounts aren't subject to federal, state, or local taxes.
We believe in the security that life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance can provide. That's why benefits-eligible employees receive insurance equal to their salary, payable to anyone they choose. As your salary increases, so does the value of your policy. You may also purchase additional insurance coverage for yourself and your dependents.
Retiree Medical Savings Account
This program is designed to help you save and pay for the cost of health benefits during retirement, as well as to provide access to retiree health plans sponsored by the hospital. One major feature of the program provides for a hospital matching contribution to help encourage savings under the program. You are eligible to participate in the RMSA beginning the calendar year you reach age 50.
As a teaching hospital, we are firm believers in the value of education. That's why we extend generous tuition reimbursement to all our full-time and part-time benefits-eligible employees who have been employed with us longer than 6 months.
For hospital-related non-degree courses, undergraduate degrees, or graduate degrees, reimbursement is $2,000 per year for full-time (36 hours per week) employees, and $1,000 for part-time (20-35 hours per week) employees.
For job related certifications or job-related continuing education courses, reimbursement is $1,000 per year for full-time (36 hours per week) employees, and $500 for part-time (20-35 hours per week) employees.
Back-up Child Care
BWH provides two types of Backup Child Care services – the BWH Backup Child Care Center and Parents in a Pinch. The BWH Backup Child Care Center, located at 850 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, serves BWH employees who need emergency or planned backup child care for their children, aged eight weeks to 12 years. BWH also offers "Parents in a Pinch", which can make a child care provider available in your home or referral to licensed family day care homes. BWH employees enjoy subsidized membership at BodyScapes, a fully equipped fitness center located at 77 Louis Pasteur Avenue in the Longwood Medical Area. Membership is at a reduced rate and is deducted from your pay check. Employee Assistance Program
EAP is a free and confidential professional resource available to all BWH employees. This department focuses on work-life issues, stress reduction, family matters, crisis intervention and substance abuse, in addition to other areas of expertise. View the EAP website.
All employees are encouraged to participate in a variety of classes and opportunities offered by both Workforce Development and Organizational Development & Learning. This added knowledge will give them the tools they need to be successful and to grow with the organization. The classes include: time management, continuing education, self assessment and career counseling to name a few.
This program applies to all Brigham & Women's Hospital employees who are eligible for benefits (20 hours or more weekly). BWH offers a 50% subsidy on all MBTA passes with a contribution cap of $125.00. Monthly discounted MBTA passes are available through a pre-tax payroll deduction. If you wish to participate in the T-Pass program, you should sign up in PeopleSoft by the 14th of the month, with the pass beginning the 1st of the following month. Payroll deductions are taken out of the 4th paycheck of the month and the T-passes on the last Thursday of the month.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital has a long-standing commitment to improving the health of our Boston residents.Focusing on neighborhoods with disproportionately poor health and a need for better health care and social services, our Center for Community Health and Health Equity (CCHHE) and its health center partners provide a broad array of community service and community health programs, which are designed to have a measurable, positive effect on the health status of underserved populations.
We have a long list of successful health initiatives developed by BWH for the Boston community. Here are just a few examples:
- Open Doors to Health Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative – partnership between Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center, and Brookside Health Center to increase colorectal cancer screening rates for underserved populations
- The Birth Equity Initiative – a comprehensive and collaborative effort to eliminate disparities in infant mortality and poor birth outcomes through clinical and community-based approaches
- Centering Pregnancy – a group-based model of prenatal care designed to enable women to develop strong social support networks through the integration of health assessment, education and support
- Connecting Hope, Assistance and Treatment (CHAT) Program – helps women with breast cancer – who have insufficient income or insurance coverage – pay for necessary services related to their breast cancer diagnosis
- Passageway – providing services to patients and employees who have experienced abuse from an intimate partner
- Pathways to health and science careers for young people through:
- Student Success Jobs Program (SSJP) – a year-round intensive internship/mentorship program for 50 Boston public high school students to engage them in the medical, health and science professions
- BWH’s summer youth programs - including Summer Science Academy for rising 9th graders and Project TEACH (Teen Education About Careers in Health) for rising 10th graders
- Community-engaged research - CCHHE works with community partners to conduct health research. We are currently working with the Boston Public Health Commission and the REACH Coalition to understand perceptions of communication around Human Papilloma Virus as a risk for cervical cancer among women of African descent.
Boston is a beautiful walking city. Fenway Park to Boston Harbor takes less than an hour by foot. Of course, there's the subway and buses, but with such exquisite architecture, historical landmarks, legendary restaurants and shopping – a walking journey is as exciting as the final destination.
Each season is special in Boston. Spring means flowering trees and walks in the park. Summer means free concerts or a weekend on the Cape. When Fall leaves start to turn, head to Vermont for apple picking. And great Winter sports are just a car ride away.
Boston offers Broadway theatres, local playhouses, comedy clubs, and all kinds of music. There are many famous museums, and don’t forget our Champion sports teams!
