    I worked at Bucknell University

It obviously depends on who you work for, but for the most part the University is clearly devoted to student learning. This can be good and bad. From the student perspective, it is good because professors have patience and are willing to teach and train you, making it easier to find a job after graduation, though at the cost of pumping out publications like at other major institutions.

Professors value their research just as much as the lectures they teach and the students they teach to. Again, this can be seen as a pro or a con depending on your goals. There are a handful of students whose names end up on publications, but it is by no means a guarantee. Also, most research positions are not paid like at other institutions - though the hands on experience more than makes up for that.

Bucknell confers both undergraduate and master's degrees in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and music. It also offers programs in pre-law and pre-med. Bucknell tuition and fees total about $48,000; more than half of the student body typically receives financial aid. The school's... More
