This is a great company with a strong family owned culture. You will feel and be treated like family. The CEO will know you by name. The company is very directionally correct by relating high level company goals to your individual contribution. The people make this a positive place to work overall!
They focus so much on saving money and being frugal it seems there is a financial struggle although they have one of the strongest rankings for capital. The cost of health insurance for the employee is extremely high, the high deductible plan makes it hard to go to the doctor, the annual sales recognition event was removed, the pension plan was frozen (replaced with a savings investment plan but a hit to long term employees), small coffee cups instead of a tad bigger coffee cups, you get the idea. All the perks for employees have been stripped away
There is high scrutiny on home inspections making it very difficult for their members to obtain home insurance. Members are cancelled for a missing shingle or they ask members to paint their homes in the winter. Common sense seems to be set aside in order to fix a number on a report somewhere. The risk is that they damage the affinity group marketing brand in the process and do not have a growing opportunity with new groups to market. It feels like this plan has a dead end instead of a recovery.
Advice to Management
Be careful what you do to your customers with your home underwriting processes. You are burning your market and you are burning out your sales and underwriting employees. You will fix the number, but you will not have much to work with when you are done. The plan right now feels like a childhood art project. Put it in the oven, cook it down, it comes out pretty but there is not much left.

Disclosure statement read citing previous criminal behavior/record grounds for termination
Licensed producers can NOT have criminal records (?????)
Required to pay for licenses needed in 40+ states ($3000-which they provide a loan for????)
Recruiter stated software not current ( higher end product using outdated software ?????)
Product is higher end/priced more than most competitive coverage for niche market to be sold as a "benefit" to those who serve-Heros deserve a quality product, providing superior coverage, value, at affordable rate, for their contribution to the community.Where is the group rate advantage in this?????

Might be a great opportunity-recruiting process lengthy, comes across as a solicitation vs invitation-previous reviewer described is painful-concur with assessment
- Typical STAR interview questions-tell me about a time when you had a difficult customer/ conflict/angry customer/etc. Questions not geared towards sales. Interactions as a sales rep shouldn't have difficult customer, conflict resolutions, angry customers-those questions pertain more to customer service-after a product is purchased. Sales is overcoming price objections/obstacles, educating the value of product, providing adequate coverage needs. Sales is presentation, not conflict resolution-that generally is under servicing a policy. Disappointing that recruiter wasn't versed in differences. Better understanding of differences would lead to more appropriate probing. Tell me about a time you overcame a slump in your sales, telling me about a time when you overcame price objection, tell me about a time when you increased value awareness and upsold a policy. 1 Answer
