I have been working at Caltrain full-time (More than a year)
Not a lot of work to do, relaxed atmosphere, ok wages
Not a safe environment, even though a lot of emphasis is put on it. There are a lot of accidents, and management says they put this first - but they quickly will use it against people. Management and union workers do not have a good relationship, it is hostile and retaliatory lacking good-faith.
Advice to Management
Keep a professional attitude and act fairly at all times. Work to hear complaints and not retaliate against people who come forward with concerns. Work to curb the gossip and mis-information that flows freely (that you currently encourage instead of professional discretion). The sexual harassment, racial slurs, sex jokes, homosexual degrading terms, crude language, of other employees and customers needs to stop. Right now, your team says "don't say 'i wanna do that girl' ", and then laugh about it in the meeting and in front of others later - and in face be the one setting the bad example. Upper management needs to be in the field and talk to workers. All but 3 TASI managers are never seen. JPB is a ghost.
