I have been working at Capital Metro full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, room for growth, excellent wages, variety of shifts, bi-monthly bonus checks for perfect attendance, fitness room with personal trainers for $10 month, free bus passes for children/husband

    Cons

Work-life balance, politics, working holidays, drivers treated like low class citizens, no employee morale, no break time for drivers at the end of the line, passengers are always right, no management backing of drivers vs. Public, split shifts up to 5 hrs between shifts, drivers are always targeted for discipline

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back the excitement in working for you. Have monthly bbq's or giveaways to make the drivers feel appreciated. Allow the drivers some downtime at the end of the line WITHOUT passengers aboard the bus so we can gather our thoughts, call our loved ones in private, or have a bite to eat without people staring us in the face, swiping their passes, or asking us questions that eat up our already short...recovery time. Care about your drivers needs and happiness as much as you do about the publics--we are people too. A happy driver makes for a happy ride.
