BACK IT UP. GET IT BACK.™
At Carbonite, we understand how much of your life is on your computer. That's why we want to make it as easy as possible to back it up. We also understand that the only reason you back things up is so you can get them back when you need them. That's why we've focused on making our restore process as simple and hassle-free as possible.
Since Carbonite launched, we've backed up more than 300 billion files. More importantly, we've recovered nearly 20 billion files that otherwise would have been lost forever.
We keep backup simple
There's a reason the New York Times called Carbonite "the easiest online backup software to use." It's because everything we do is designed to make backup simple. Our product works automatically, so you never have to remember to back up. You can recover your files from our servers with just a few clicks, and if you need our support reps to walk you through the process, they're available by phone, email and chat.
We also make it easy to try Carbonite for free. All you need to do to get started is to enter your email address and create a password. That's it – there's no credit card required.
We keep your files safe and secure
Keeping your files safe and private is our top priority. That's why we take every precaution to make sure your valuable files are secure. Your files are encrypted before they leave your computer and encrypted again during transfer. Your files remain encrypted on our secure servers that are located in state-of-the-art data centers, which are guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We listen – and respond
We sincerely appreciate that you've taken time out of your busy life to try Carbonite, and we take your input very seriously. Thanks so much for helping us to make Carbonite a success.
Work on technology that really matters – Since 2006, Carbonite has restored over 7.2 billion files that otherwise would've been lost forever.

I have been working at CarbonitePros
Management is very receptive to new ideas. If you are good at what you do, you will be recognized and rewarded. From what I've seen the company believes in promoting from within.Cons
The company is a little top heavy, but there are lot of openings, so things might even out.Advice to ManagementAdvice

Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Carbonite in March 2015.Interview Details
Applied for the position online. HR contacted me within a week.
Had phone conversations twice, both times with different manager. Was OK.
I was told the interviews would last for 3 hours. Was fairly excited that I would be asked some good to great technical questions. Here is how it played out:\
- Met the HR. Her questions
-- Why are you looking to change?
-- Are you interviewing other companies? Are you going to take up the offer if they extend one?
-- What is your salary reqs?
- Met the VP. No technical questions. Professional fit questions only.
-- Describe yourself in 3 words
-- We need the engineer to interact with other non tech teams and sometimes even with customers. Are you willing to do that?
- Met 3 different managers, one of them was a hiring manager. No technical questions. Again, only professional fit questions.
-- The hiring manager mentioned that he wants all his employees to be always working on other technologies so that they are ready to switch jobs in the future.
-- I asked the one other manager about what he likes the most about working, to which he replied by mentioning everything except for the kind of work he has done at the company.
- Met an engineer: Professional fit questions only. I don't even remember the discussion.
The experience was mind numbing. In a nutshell, I spent 3 hours interviewing and there was not a single technical question asked. Bad reviews about the company on Glassdoor could also explain the hiring process.Interview Questions
