    I worked at Cardiff University part-time (more than 10 years)


    Demanding but reasonable management; good pay and conditions (especially holiday entitlement). Excellent colleagues and academic staff. Good training and development opportunities.


    Can be bureaucratic, slow to make decisions and implement changes. Focus on academic endeavours means that support staff can be overlooked/underrepresented. Budgets being tightened - therefore more pressure on staff than previously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management training should be compulsory and regularly updated for all staff managing teams.

    I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Cardiff University in December 2013.

    Interview Details

    The entire procedure tooks 3 month. I applied online via cardiff university website and get an invitation for the job interview 2 month later. It was a face to face interview (travel expense refund) with no special hard questions. My powerpoint presentation was a plus.
