Advice to Management
promote people that are not engineers
I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Cascade Designs, Inc. (Seattle, WA) in May 2011.
I was interviewed by the CIO. We had been colleagues in the JD Edwards consulting space for a number of years at different companies. We had crossed paths at a few different clients. While both participating in the JDE Pacific NW Users group, I was asked if I knew of anyone looking to make an employment change. I replied, I did not. About a week later I emailed the CIO and asked if he would consider me for the position. We had lunch and discussed the open position he was looking to fill. I considered the possibility for about a week and then called the CIO back and accepted his offer of employment.
Yes, we negotiated salary and the CIO was able to slightly "sweeten" the original offer.
