Great work life balance but not too much upward mobility.

I have been working at Cathay General Bancorp full-time

The office culture is very friendly. Most people have been with the bank for many years and know what they are doing. The human resources department is very nice and willing to work with employees to make sure that the best possible outcome occurs. Hours are pretty standard without too much overtime.

Because people are with the bank for a long time, there are not many positions open for career advancement. In addition, people are not too willing to try new things if the way it's always worked before has been ok.

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Cathay General Bancorp in June 2014.

    Interview Details

Initial phone screening, in-person interview with HR and a rudimentary 1990s version Word and Excel skills test, an essay about why you are applying for the position, then interview with the team. While the interview wasn't very hard, I didn't hear from them afterwards until a few months later, even though I had contacted them well beforehand for an update on the process. HR was very slow and unreliable in this process
