Your Life and Emdeon
Corporate Social Responsibility
Emdeon engages in a corporate effort to provide the communities we serve with outreach through a targeted corporate responsibilities plan. We have participated in numerous charitable organizations' events across the country and continue to have scheduled events year round. Emdeon encourages employees to volunteer for charitable activities by providing paid time off to full-time regular employees up to two days per year. In 2009 and 2010 our employees committed over 4,000 volunteer hours... and that was just during the work week. Many also participated in activities on evenings and weekends.
In addition, we support many charitable organizations like the American Red Cross, Soles4Souls, Second Harvest Food Bank, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and many more. But we don't just look outside of our walls. In 2011, we introduced Hands Across Emdeon, a charitable organization specifically created to provide disaster relief or emergency hardship grants to Emdeon employees in times of need.
Our wellness program is employee driven, designed to create a culture of health and encourages cross-departmental interaction (and even a little healthy competition). We want that list to keep growing and welcome employees to start new activities!
Through our insurance provider, Emdeon employees also have access to a number of online wellness tools, like personal wellness coaches and an expansive discount program, aimed at supporting their personal wellness goals.
"Emdeon Green" isn't just the name of our corporate color, it's what we call being environmentally conscience. We fulfill our corporate mission of making healthcare efficient by enabling our customers to reduce their paper consumption through electronic transaction and payment processing. Examples of ways we apply this principle internally are by offering recycling centers and by implementing electronic recordkeeping and paperless processes in departments across the organization.
Our Emdeon benefits program is a comprehensive program-offering you a choice of quality benefit plans with a commitment to promote better health for you and your family. Emdeon understands how important affordable healthcare programs are and we are proud to offer a competitive benefits package that strives to keep costs low and promote wellness initiatives throughout the company. New employees can enjoy the benefits on or shortly after their first day, and we provide a robust and secure online portal to assist employees in making benefit plan decisions.

Once your caseload is assigned, you have the freedom to complete it how you please, as long as it is done by its due date. Good money for the work. Some would call this a call center atmosphere because of the amount of phone calls that need to be made - but if you're a call center vet, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE WHAT YOU'RE USED TO. In the best ways possible. Promotions usually come from within. Benefits start on day one, including vacation days.
The training program is delayed, most people are already working their case loads before an official training class comes around. Most of the managers only know their area, for example, someone working a case load for VA probably wont be able to get a detailed answer from a manger over IL. Unfortunately, office politics are a factor here... If you can tune it out, there's no concern. Also, if you're easily bothered by change or being required to multitask, this wouldn't be the place for you.
Advice to Management
More open communication would be a big improvement. My personal experience would have benefited from more on-the-spot coaching, as I worked my caseload for 2 and a half months before training started, However I did not get evaluated until several weeks in, when I was already making a major mistake to hurt my numbers.
