Communication has always been a struggle. We still need more streamlined processes in place because our plates can be a little full. The growth of the company came quickly and so it works backwards sometimes to still try and catch up with that.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Champion Window.
I was "recruited" by a friend that worked there to apply so I turned in a resume and stopped in personally to talk to the appropriate manager. They had me fill out some application paperwork and then I left. A few days later I was called in to interview and I walked in with a dress shirt, tie, and dress slacks to look like appropriate for an interview and they thought I was applying for a sales job instead. I was interviewed by 3 people including the Division Manager. I have extensive experience in the position I applied for but one of the guys I interviewed with asked about my ability to hire good people under me and I said that I've got people that are willing to come with me if I get hired b/c of the current employer we were with. He thought I was all talk apparently and said not to make any promises b/c people always say that and never follow through (I can understand that). They asked me what I was wanting to get paid so I told them that if they could match my current employer I would be happy to come aboard. They told me only veteran employees make that much and that the amount they could offer would be "pretty much" the same once I factored their great benefits. I thought it was close but not quite. They initially "went with someone else" for the position I applied for but offered me a sales position (I hate 'selling') so I declined. A week later they called me back and offered me the original position I applied for. I later found out that their hire turned out to be a dud. It took a week and a half for them to get an offer to me and fire their original mistake. We negotiated and I accepted.
I negotiated my pay by highlighting my ability to solve their immediate need as well as grow their long term vision. I met them near the middle but was able to stay closer to my end of the package with the benefits. It took a week and a half but worked out and I'm looking forward to success.
