I worked at Chevron Products Company full-time (More than 3 years)
Worked with the best and smartest people in the industry, procedures were well written and well known, workers health and safety was paramount, company considered people's work/life balance, resources exceeded what I had been familiar with in the past and even at their worst they were still adequate. I left this job to relocate to a more desirable location where Chevron did not exist, however, if the opportunity ever presented itself in the future, I would happily return to that company without reservation.
The work location (refinery) was a commute because it was somewhat remote, business moved at a slow pace due to all the rules and regulations (but that is to be expected of this type and size of business). Salary pay was fair, but not exceptional because they were able to find and keep talent paying simply fair wages due to so many people wanting to work there.
Advice to Management
It is an unusually large company with a broad reach, the management is standard in that situation.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Chevron Products Company (El Segundo, CA).
After submitting your application, if you are lucky enough to be picked out of the thousands of applicants for each position, you will have to go through a series of tests. Pretty basic stuff, the kinds of things you would expect from a standardized test for mechanical and practical knowledge. If you pass that, there is a computer simulation test that you must pass to get to the interview stage. The interview was pretty mundane.
- I don't recall anything unexpected or particularly difficult. Answer Question
There was no negotiation as this is a union bargained position and the rates were already established.

You can salute Chevron Products Company, because it earned its stripes on the American highways and byways. The company operates Chevron's five refineries and about 550 company-owned gas stations in the US. Chevron products sold at these stations include Techron gasoline, Delo motor oil, and transmission fluid. In 2005 Chevron began to favor third party owned stations in place of the corporate store and began selling off its stakes in company owned stores. Chevron Products Company also operates an asphalt refinery in New Jersey. It is a subsidiary of Chevron U.S.A ...
