I have been working at City of Akron full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The city offers excellent benefits with great rates. It is also nice that you are guareteed a raise yearly for the first seven years you are in a position. Time Bank is also a great asset because you do not need to worry about missing pay if you have an unexpected illness or surgery

    Cons

No room for advancement. Many of departments within the city offer little room for advancement. There are few managment level jobs and a large number of employees are stuck in the same position for their entire career.

    Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at City of Akron in February 2012.

    Interview

This was an promotional position requiring application and interview with Planning Director. There were no other applicants for the position. The process was the longest, most frustrating part of the whole experience.
