Diversity and Inclusion

As Cliffs has grown internationally, we’ve gained a global workforce with different perspectives and approaches to business.  Deepening our understanding of the cultures our operations influence – and are influenced by – will assist us in maintaining our license to operate within these locations.

To help facilitate this understanding, Cliffs has launched a Diversity & Inclusion Initiative to develop a long-term solution for supporting diversity and fostering an environment that embraces the power of multi-cultural talent and treats all individuals fairly and respectfully.

Open Dialogue with the Board

In a current business environment where fewer than 17% of Fortune 500 board seats are held by women, Cliffs is fortunate to have three accomplished female leaders on its Board of Directors.

These directors graciously agreed to participate in an “Open Dialogue with the Board” panel discussion for our employees, talking about their career paths and the personal and professional decisions that guided their journey.

The panel met with an overwhelmingly positive employee reception, and we offer highlights here to share the lessons learned from these terrific leaders.

Australian Workplace Gender Equality Report

Each year, the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 requires employers with 100 or more staff to submit a report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). The report is designed to capture information on six gender equality indicators specified within the Act.

I applied online. I interviewed at Cliffs Natural Resources.

It was a bit different having the first interview be a taped session where you look into a camera the entire time instead of talking to another human being. This made it a challenge when trying to answer the questions. You are given a specified time to read the question, formulate your response and then make your response. Once you start you can't stop early or redo the question so if you mess up that was your one shot.
