I have been working at Closet World full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Unlike many other jobs, if you work hard and produce sales, you are treated well and given many opportunities for growth/promotion. No cold calling, all leads are company provided; no cost for supplies, catalogs, etc. Commission only pay is great: you are in charge of how much money you can make. Highly motivating management.

    Cons

Sometimes we are a bit behind on style trends; but it's not a bad thing to be a stable, traditional, dependable product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up to speed with style trends; not with fads, but with true styles. Continue to seek feedback from designers in the field...but no whining from designers, they need to state facts only!

    SALES DESIGNER Interview

    Anonymous Employee  in  Whittier, CA
    Anonymous Employee in Whittier, CA
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3 days - interviewed at Closet World in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied directly via email and was called the next day and scheduled the interview. I met with Sr. Sales Manager and was warmly welcomed by several different people in the office. I found the interview to be more of a "sales" presentation. Very descriptive with the commission, the "method" of sale and how sales people are not allowed to deviate from the method. All discounting has to be approved by the manager. He then threw in that the next training was starting in 3 days. Complete news to me, as I am currently working and would have to give notice, not mention that I drove almost 3 hours for the interview. It seemed to me that they churn and burn their sales people like a revolving door. I was only asked one question throughout the hour interview.
