I worked at Cobham for more than a year

    Pros

The original CEO 2009 he retired was a nice blend of stern and compassionate. In many cases he was opened minded to change. The revenue growth was steady and continuous improvement was undergoing

    Cons

A new CEO was brought in under the direction of "Lean" and he was unfair and insensitive and radical in his change approach. He changed too much and fired key employees. The company suffered (loss revenue and profit) for over 2 years until we was finally let go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more careful planning regarding management changes. Access the culture and the progress of the changes. Take action to more closely observe and listen to employees especially when the basic sales and profit metics are impacted.

    Director of Operations Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate

    Application Details

I applied through other source. The process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at Cobham.

    Interview Details

Multi-stage interview; met with panel of subordinates, HR, other department managers. Questions varied from fairly sophisticated to unsophisticated - a result of the interview panel including very junior, as well as more senior, people. Following panel interview, invited to dinner twice as another candidate was in the down-select. Once hired, I found a wide variation in competency of other recently hired employees, indicating the lack of a robust recruiting and selection process.
