    I worked at Cognos

It was a positive environment/culture. Very smart people with great ideas that were heard. People were committed to provide tools for sales & services to make and keep the customer happy. The training and services team always helped each other- sharing knowledge, best practices, tips & tricks at any hour of the day. Ron Zambonini was the most passionate and engaging CEO.

A bubble burst when Ron stepped down as CEO in '04.
I think the prod dev had a big miss with the web dev of analysis studio, very weak against PowerPlay.
Was a boys club and not everyone was allowed in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They hired or promoted many people to managers, who didn't have mgmt experience, the right skill set, or the right fit to our culture, which led to people moving to other dept. or leaving the company.

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Cognos in May 2008.

    Interview Details

Interview process was pretty fair but rather lengthy. Phone screening led to HR interview and then second set of phone screening. After that it took a while, and then face to face interviews were scheduled onsite. That took about another few days. That interview was across management and technical team. There were couple 1-1 interviews and some group panel interviews. It was interesting interview as there were some scenarios laid out for me to do some hands-on work to prove my knowledge, skills, and background. Overall very good experience.
