I have been working at College of Charleston full-time (More than a year)

Great location downtown, working with great professors/undergrad students, and . Poster fairs and presentations are always fun.

Funding can be a nightmare--less qualified people get SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Funding), MAYS (Major Academic Year Support) from CofC over you if there project is more 'interesting'. Funding seems to be random and just based on the project title not actually the work involved.

    Advice to Management

Make funding more based on merit rather than what 'sounds cool'.

I applied online. The process took 6+ weeks. I interviewed at College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) in November 2014.

There were two interviews, an initial and final interview. The specifications seemed cut and dry but it took almost a month before I was offered the position. I sat before a "panel" of sorts, which consisted of the 3 supervisors. They asked a series of questions that applied to the position and their expectations. It turns out they had no real idea of their expectations or abilities to efficiently supervise the position as it had not been in the past.

Charleston may be known for its churches, but its colleges are right up there too. The College of Charleston, one of the oldest universities in the nation, is a state-supported institution emphasizing areas of study in the arts and sciences, education, and business. The school enrolls more than 11,500 undergraduates and graduates who study in some 45 major fields. The College of Charleston was founded in 1770 by a group that included three future signers of the Declaration of Independence.
