    Pros

I've worked at Command five years, and love it. The job can be high stress, and an adrenaline rush when it's busy. There's always problems to solve, and it's a fast-paced atmosphere. Not for everyone, but I personally thrive in this atmosphere. While the job itself is high stress, the atmosphere is pretty chill - the majority of employees are in their 20s, and friendship among co-workers is encouraged. Upper management really loves the employees, and really tries to make brokering as tolerable as possible (e.g. no dress code, cash incentives for everything, huge commissions on freight, etc..) The pay can be incredible. It's 100% commission, so the harder you work, the more $$ you make. I was making $100k+ three years in. The job changed my life - I was able to buy a first house, an engagement ring for the gf and pay for a wedding in cash based off a little over a years pay.

    Cons

High stress job - we're a middle man between carriers and shippers, and really our job is to communicate. We have to deal with morons on both sides, and generally take the brunt of the abuse when something goes wrong.

    Advice to Management

The company was just sold to Echo - so my advice is to not change Command's model at all. It's an incredibly profitable model, carriers and customers love us, and we have the capacity to move most tough loads for my customers.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Command Transportation (Skokie, IL) in March 2015.

    Interview

Very basic...which isn't a bad thing. Phone interview first. Second interview is onsite at a nice building in Skokie. Fill out a short "quiz" with basic math questions and geography. "Shadow" a few employees for 15-20 mins. And finally, interview with several HR people. The whole process is roughly an hour-and-a-half.

Command Transportation has grown year after year since its incorporation in 2005 and is currently listed as a Top 10 Freight Brokerage Firm by Transport Topics.
