I have been working at Concho full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Here at Concho, you are more than a name and a number to someone back at a corporate office, you are a real person. You are in the center of the action, and you have interactions with all levels of individuals. The benefits are tremendous, and this is a friendly place to work. If you are ready for a challenge, this place is for you. Everyone is busy, and we work hard. The commutes to anmd from work are minimal, i go 6 mionutes each way.

    Cons

If you aren't prepared to work hard, this is not the place for you. Some people won't like the small town feel, and living and working in a small town isn't for everyone. I am enjoying the quality of life, the shorter commutes, and being able to raise my son in a small town.

    IT Help Desk Technician Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate  in  Midland, TX
Anonymous Interview Candidate in Midland, TX
    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Concho in December 2010.

    Interview Details

I went through a brief phone interview and then was asked to come in for a face-to-face interview. I met with a panel of IT staff, with no HR staff present. I believe that process has changed since I started here. Questions were related to the job, but generalized in nature. At that point, I could tell they were in a bind for help and wanted to hire someone as quickly as possible. Our company has doubled the number of employees and incidentally our need for highly specialized people since then and I believe the interview process is more detailed.

    Negotiation Details
I did not negotiate as I was sufficiently satisfied with the offer letter. The benefits, time off package, and compensation was far more than I expected.

Concho Resources has more than a hunch that a lucrative resource lies under its feet in Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas. The company explores and develops properties (about 375,000 net acres), located primarily in the Permian Basin region, in which it produces oil and natural gas. It also owns properties in North Dakota and Arkansas. About two-thirds of the company's 323.4 million barrels of proved reserves is crude oil, while the rest is natural gas. Concho Resources gets the bulk of its sales from crude oil. Regional refiner Navajo Refining Company accounted for... More
