Cummins has long believed that a Company is only as strong as the communities where its employees live and work. This is most evident in the fact that former Cummins Chairman and CEO J. Irwin Miller began investing in both affordable employee housing and world-class architecture in Columbus, Indiana (our world headquarters) over 50 years ago.

As Cummins has grown globally, so has our commitment to supporting the communities all around the world. This effort is led by The Cummins Foundation, which focuses on education, the environment and social justice wherever we operate - and a few places we don’t...yet. Reducing our Environmental Impact

Demanding that everything we do leads to a cleaner, healthier, safer environment.

This is where innovations are born from a commitment to simply doing what’s right for our customers, for our professionals, and for the planet. We develop advances in diesel engines and related technologies to improve fuel efficiency. We’ve pledged to improve our energy efficiency at least 30 percent by 2015.

In 2011, Cummins announced that we exceeded our commitment to reduce 25 percent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as part of the EPA’s Climate Leaders Program. We actually achieved a 28 percent reduction in GHG emissions (110,324 tons of CO2).

Recycling, waste management, water conservation, reduced energy use, solar energy and green buildings are also critical to our commitment to reducing our impact on our environment. Yes, it’s different here. And yes, you’ll love it.

Performance Management

In order to help guide your career, we leverage our global Performance Management process to align the success of the company with the work that you do. It also gives you the opportunity to guide your own growth and success through your career.

At the beginning of each year, you'll work with your manager to clearly define your work and development objectives (Planning stage). Throughout the year, you and your manager will have ongoing conversations to help align your work with the objectives of the company and our core values. You will also uncover skills and experiences that you'll need to accomplish your career goals and set goals for individual development. You'll work together to review your progress, and your manager will provide feedback on your work and development (Updating stage).

At the end of the year, you and your manager will again work together to evaluate your performance (Reviewing stage) and how it relates to big-picture Cummins objectives and to your own personal goals. Your manager will also speak with key stakeholders as part of your assessment in order to provide valuable feedback on your strengths and development opportunities.
