I have been working at DSI (less than a year)Pros
Smaller company that's growing fast. There is lots of perks that the company provides that makes it cool to work here. Free gym membership, random catered food, etc.
Lots of career growth here and really bright people. For the most part management is easy going. Company stays close to the bleeding edge of technology so you get to see lots of cool things.
Slick headquarters that has cool technology built into the place. Its a little strict on what can be out in the open and nothing is labeled in the break rooms.Cons
Benefits. A family of 4 insured will cost you over $600 a month. That's medical alone. Dental is cheap for the most part. Vision is typical. They tout that they pay 60 something % of the overall cost though. Seems like they are getting ripped off and have no concept of shopping around and doing everything to find a better plan.
Coverage is average If not just a hair better than that. Tack on $80 for parking in the deck every month and the 1% KCMO tax and you will see any pay raise you get coming here go away.
No 401k matching. They seem to have no desire to change this.Advice to ManagementAdvice
If you want to hire the best talent, compete and retain people, start with your benefits. This is absolutely unacceptable. Everything else seems good.RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week – interviewed at DSI in June 2014.Interview Details
I sent my resume to DSI through allied global services people, within 2 days i got a call from DSI HR and asked about my experience and background. Next day i got another call from DSI team leader and discussed more about my roles and previous experience. Then finally DSI arranged a face to face interview for half day at there location Kansas City, MO. They did all arrangement to fly Kansas City from my place.
The before interview started HR asked to write a aptitude test (around 1.30) then actual interview started with DSI management and leader and development team members.Interview Questions
Reasons for Declining
- DSI interviewer are very smart and clear what kind of questions to ask for the role they are trying to hire, I didn't face any general/simple interview questions (like what is class, Virtual functions, etc). Most of questions asked based on really time experiences, problem faced. and asked to write code for few problems. Answer Question
I received the best offer from DSI, but due to some commitments with family not able to accepted.Declined OfferPositive ExperienceDifficult Interview
