Our CEO, Mike Baker, had a chance to meet with the team at nToggle and talked about everyone's favorite topic...careers. Take a few minutes to read: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vITzw

Your Career is a Green Field

Thanks to Karen Soroca who compiled my recent conversation with the nToggle team where I am on the Product Advisory Board. Too often people wait to talk about their careers until they are unhappy. Your career is something you should always be actively nurturing to grow.

DataXu – Why Work For Us?

banner-2015-about-us

Bringing Science to the Art of Marketing

DataXu was founded by MIT aeronautics and astronautics scientists who wrote the combinatorial language that guided NASA’s Mars mission plans. These scientists – joined by co-founders with extensive digital media and consumer electronics expertise – examined potential commercial applications that would benefit from a system that could make real-time decisions. They knew that a huge opportunity existed in marketing, being disrupted by the consumer digital lifestyle and big data, but still operating with manual solutions based on intuition, as well as an inefficient supply chain.

The founding team recruited the smartest people they knew to create DataXu as it is today – an open, neutral platform that enables marketers to use our ‘rocket science‘ in a simple UI to understand and engage consumers in a digital world. We are proud to have created the industry’s first and only real-time multi-variate decision system to bring science to the art of marketing. And our work has just begun!

The Programmatic Marketing Revolution

Now our vision is a reality at leading global brands. The DataXu platform enables our clients to manage and optimize marketing investments across all digital channels, realizing significant performance and cost benefits. We empower them to turn insights into action – helping them build strong brands and win in an ever more competitive marketplace.

DataXu sits at the heart of the all-digital world, putting more data to work in innovative new ways, bringing our innovations to new enterprises and market segments, and empowering customers to solve their most difficult business challenges. We are continually advancing our technology to meet emerging challenges for marketing professionals and business leaders alike.

We remain committed to true innovation and to transforming marketing in the digital world.

banner-2015-about-us

This idea was inspired by research into the most innovative companies.  The key unifying theme between the most innovative companies is that each of them finds a way for employees to do some self-driven creative work, even if there is less than 100% chance of success.  This gives employees the chance to take a risk and go down a path that they think is a good idea, without worrying about missing deadlines or missing objectives.  It might fail, but that's OK.  No meetings will interrupt concentration, no phone calls, no scrum, no backlog.  It's just you and creativity for 24 hours.

Innovation Day is the chance to research a new idea, try out a new code library, come up with a crazy new product idea, invent a new machine learning trick, or fix some annoying bug that is never a top priority. You can do whatever you think is a good use of company time, but it's completely up to you.

Employees may work on their own on teams.  Teams are comprised of people who don't usually interact.  If a member of the sales team wants to work with a developer on a new idea that's awesome.   Remember, innovation is not just on the core product, it's all aspects of the business, from people to finance to product.  Everyone can be innovative!

I have been working at DataXu full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Perks: free lunches once a week, fully stocked kitchens, accessibility to senior management, VERY smart people. Strategy is a strong point for DataXu. Every decision made is very well thought out...and they aren't made in a vacuum. It's hard to find that. Compensation is in the norm for the industry. Benefits are great. Along with other things, they offer unlimited PTO and they cover the yearly deductible for medical and dental (in addition to 85% of the plan costs)

    Cons

It's a fast growing company - things change and they change often. You have to be comfortable with that.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at DataXu in April 2015.

    Interview

Gave me a couple of java assignment questions which were mainly on Multi-threading and asked me to work on it for 2 days and then submit it. But after submitting the recruiter told that they won't be able to sponsor H1B visas. It is an absolute waste of time interviewing with this company.
