From Curb to Ship in under 10 minutes:
An international cruise ship company asked Daugherty to help them revolutionize and streamline the process of checking in passengers. The Daugherty team developed the NextGen Embarkation system, including a mobile, gesture driven solution to manage the distributed team of check-in agents at the terminal, and a web-based configuration management tool for corporate and support staff. The mobile solution is a Windows Store app running on Windows 8.1 tablet devices. The web-based configuration management tool was developed in Java and AngularJS. Both the Windows Store app and the AngularJS UI communicate with NGE and 3rd party servers via RESTful web services. NextGen Embarkation has been a huge success for our client, enabling them to improve passenger check-in and boarding times from 45 minutes curb-to-ship to only 10 minutes curb-to-ship, a transformational and revolutionary change for the cruise ship industry. Team size – 1st phase – 15 Daugherty Employees.
This was a Daugherty owned project for a Global e-commerce client. We developed a catalog intake system (similar to iTunes) to be publishable across the world. Nearly a dozen team members worked in an Agile, paired programming, continuous integration/deployment environment to get this done. Implementation was done on a .NET stack using WCF / RESTful services and then on a Java stack using Spring Boot, Spring JPA, REST, Tomcat, and Oracle. Solution was a custom ETL process with the ability to recognize and eliminate duplicate data to improve performance.

I have been working at Daugherty Business Solutions full-time
My experience at Daugherty Business Solutions is good. It is a great place to work. After working at various companies throughout my career you can easily recognize when a company strives and takes the measures of doing things right and keeping their folks happy, and it doesn't become a challenge to write a review on them. It's sort of like when you discover a good restaurant, a gem, and you want all of your friends/colleagues to know about them to experience how good it could be. I've watched how Daugherty does not just talk to the talk but truly walk the walk in how they operate. They say they value work/life balance-check I've seen that here. No travel required with this company. They say they have clear defined career growth plans and allow you to be a driver of your career path- check I've seen it here. There are smart and passionate people all around here at Daugherty that are going after the same goal. On top of that they are people that you can become good friends with.
Commute is a bit tough but that's anywhere in Atlanta. Luckily, there is some work hours flexibility with that.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Daugherty Business Solutions.
3 rounds - 1st with HR, 2nd is technical, 3rd with the Atlanta branch MD. HR tells you about their model and then asks you to walk through your resume. The technical interview had a lot of in-depth questions about the job to ensure I knew the work. The MD didn't ask much at all. I think by that point it's clear that you know the work, but the MD wants to see/like you. If you don't follow up with HR, you don't hear back, so the process was long because I would wait a couple of weeks and then follow up before they'd set up my next interview. After the third interview I still never heard back, but by then I had accepted another job.
