We are global

DeNA was founded in 1999 by Tomoko Namba on her vision to leverage new technologies to delight and impact the world.

Today DeNA has offices from Tokyo to Vancouver, Santiago to Stockholm; San Francisco is the headquarters for DeNA in the Americas & Europe.

I have been working at DeNA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The operations team at DeNA is a highly collaborative group of intelligent and experienced individuals. While it's nice to talk about war stories and bond over the battle wounds of operational hellfire past. This team would rather talk over lunch about their weekend plans or go on a movie outing, because frankly they are smart enough to avoid most of the brimstone that you find in other large infrastructure deployments. It's true that their hardware is not magic and their tools are no different than the rest of the industries, but they are able to handle outages and more importantly the people that are affected by them with, dare I say it, a bit of grace?! Think of your worst experience with an IT/Operations team then think about what made you feel that way. That's what this team thinks about every time it meets to consider how we can make our clients lives a little easier, and frankly how we can keep our lives easy.

    Cons

As with any team that can see across the entire organization, the problems that recur are the most disheartening. The entire organization would be better off if it would take more cues from the operations and infrastructure team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time listening to the operations teams thoughts on how best to scale the technology stacks to be more game agnostic and easier to move between game teams.

    Game Analytics and Design Interview

Anonymous Employee  in  San Francisco, CA

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at DeNA.

    Interview Details

Initial communications consisted of one interview by phone with not an HR, but with a person from the team directly. It included broad question on analytic methods used at previous job places. Afterwards there was an onsite interview which included speaking one on one with 5-6 persons from the team and an HR in the end. The office is nice and everybody is very friendly. The only drawback of the whole process is that everybody basically did not ask neither specific nor difficult questions, so it is impossible to understand how they differentiate people. It seems also that they do not prepare to the interview at all because not only one person who talked to me by phone asked me if that was she who talked to me by phone, she also wondered during 10 minutes what to ask me. So overall I can say nothing of the process - it was friendly, well planned from the point of view of timing, but did not give any possibility to show my competitive advantages and was poorly planned from the point of view of questions.

    Interview Questions
    • There were no difficult questions at all. All questions were very broad - from very general discussions of analytic methods to discussion of hobbies   Answer Question
