I have been working at Deakin University part-time (less than an year)

Free research atmosphere, quiet and pleasant working environment, flexible working hours, good for people to buckle down to do some research they like.

The funding for research is limited, so researchers usually need to apply for funding by themselves after the first contract, but on the other side it's good to develop the skills of an independent researcher. Since my campus is in the regional area, the collaboration with leading industry is not close enough.

I applied online and interviewed via phone. awful experience!!! They were in a rush. They called me 20 mins before the scheduled time because they finished another interview earlier?! I am overseas. don't know if that's the problem. I could hardly hear what they were saying. it was like they conducted the interview in a football stadium with all the noise around!
