I worked at Defense TechnologiesPros
Company has decent pay and benefits, flex time, and its not too hard to get time off. Ability to work a compressed work schedule with every other Friday off. Sometimes get to work with exciting new technology. Great place to work that is sadly trending downhill.Cons
Seldom allowed to truly innovate, upper management wants everyone to live and breathe their work, and only do what they tell you. Conflicting orders from different bosses, and company fond of bait-and-switch when trying to get employees to relocate. Often uses old or outdated technology instead of modern variants for no discernible reason, seems like they purposefully setup half the projects for failure in the end.
Mistreated an entire office branch when closing it down, telling employees they would be allowed to relocate to different branch then removing that offer shortly before branch closed. Has no scruples about constantly contacting former employees seeking assistance on issues for free. Management consistently downsized employees and canceled civilian-oriented projects that had potential to earn money, to chase after scarce military contracts.
Middle management seems to only exist to hassle employees below while kissing up to top management. Most conflicting tasks originate there, and they'll happily pass the buck to the direct managers when any unpleasant task comes around to be done.Advice to ManagementAdvice
The disconnect between top management and the average employee is vast. Listen to your peons, they're out there trying to make your fluffy promises a reality without guidance or positive support. Stop badgering and abusing your employees, and taking advantage of their goodwill.Doesn't RecommendDisapproves of CEO
