    Pros

They pay very well for a person who has a good work ethic. Benefits are very good and inexpensive. Lots of good people have worked there for many years.

    Cons

When the price of oil goes up everything runs great and moral is good. When the price of oil goes down so does moral and soon after layoffs start. There had been 3 before the time my job was eliminated. They don't past down the bonuses all the way. Stops at management level.

    Advice to Management

They don't plan ahead for the lean times, even though the company is in the black. They don't manage that well as far as number of people that are really needed. Most se the company making money so they spend money.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6+ monthsinterviewed at Diamond Offshore (Houston, TX) in February 2012.

    Interview

Interviewd with upper managenment first. Next visited with middle management - mostly as a meet and greet. Upper mngt was very professional and curtious. Middle mngt was less interested in spending time with you. You could tell since they had no say they were not very interested.

    Interview Questions

    • Mostly asked how I felt about being away from home for long periods, any fear of heights, traveling, typical rig life questions.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

Pay was set amount, not negotiable.
