Former Employee - High School Teacher in Dallas, TX

I worked at Diocese of Dallas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is no better job than to teach a subject that you love--and they PAY you to do it!

    Cons

Trying to duck in and out of the politics and ideologies that permeate the secondary education system in Dallas was tiring and like living inside of a B-grade spy movie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure that the administration has its primary dedication to Holy Mother Church and not some personalized ideological version of "the spirit of Vatican II." My family has suffered much at the hands of such misguided zeal.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Diocese of Dallas.

    Interview Details

Scan website for employment opportunities. Standard application and interview processes were followed. Interviewed by a panel of principal, department chair, and president of the school. The interviewers asked me how I would respond to various classroom situations, discipline issues, parent concerns, et cetera. They asked questions about books that I have recently read and how I would teach certain subjects.

    Interview Questions
    • What is your salary expectation. We all know that Catholic schools do not pay a family wage. I need a family wage to support my family. I had to ask for more than most teachers earned.   View Answer
