After two and a half years of successful deals, Dynamix failed to pay on a 2 month contract or discuss the situation. The sales staff are independent consultants and arrangements by these consultants are not honored by the company as they are not W-2 and the company "feels" they are under no obligation to discuss much less come to an arrangement. That said, the sales rep is still contracting for them 6 months later and there is no notification that the sales rep doesn't work for the company - so the end result for others is likely to be the same.
Advice to Management
If you want to be like Walmart and focus on the transaction, get out of the high end consulting game. Long term relationships is what makes Nordstroms behave like Nordstroms both at the customer level and the resource level. In addition take responsibility for those using your brand or tell them not to use it. People don't care about a hidden nuance that they find out about only after being "taken."
