I have been working at ECFMG full-time (more than 5 years)

The behavior, demeanor and respect of most coworkers are conducive to good friendships and make up for some of the not so positive aspects of the work environment. Excellent benefits and salary is comparable to the average for at least my position.

Management runs unchecked and perform obvious favoritism. Repeated complaints about the behavior and demeanor of these favorite employees fall in deaf ears. Management does not care or attempt to cultivate other employees into leadership positions other than the selected few. Blatant misconduct is condone for the selected few and there is no trust towards management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a desperate need for upward review, Some of the management should not hold their current position but this will never make the light of day because there is no way for upper management to know. What ever metrics are being used to measure the performance of current managers is incomplete in my opinion. Take an anonymous survey from non-management employees by department and see what is going on.

    Interview Details

After a phone interview, they invited me for an in-person interview, but they didn't confirm the details of the interview until late the night before (5 days after calling me to schedule it), and I had to follow up about it via email. They required at least 3 references (two had to be past supervisors), but they didn't tell me about this policy until late the night before the first interview. My last two positions (spanning almost 6 yrs) had a pretty strict "no reference" policy, so this was a slight hurdle for me. I have plenty of references, but because of those policies, it's difficult to get supervisor references. When I tried to explain my situation, I was instructed to call one of my supervisors and ask. I would have done that, but I didn't know about their policy until late the night before the interview! There was also an hour-long writing/editing test, which wasn't a problem, but I thought it was really bad form that they didn't tell me about this before the interview. I have been interviewing at a few different places for editing jobs, and they always tell me about the tests that are required. In fact, they usually tell me who I meeting with and how long we will meet as well. Additionally, the test materials weren't where they said they would be, so I had to waste my test time finding someone to come and help me locate the file.
