I worked at Fairchild Semiconductor as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Relaxed work place
    - Many good managers with engineering background
    - Willing to provide training and enrichment
    - Free Coffee, good cafeteria

    Cons

    - Company goals/strategy were a moving target
    - Resistance to change to new software tools

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to settle on a market segment and stick with it. I also found there was a disconnect between the strategy level and implementation level. Need to open up those lines of communication and be willing to listen, explain, and discuss.

    Interview Details

Interview candidates seem to be touched by too many different people in the company before they join the company. The interview process is long and drawn out. I was contacted by the HR recruiter, scheduler and hiring manager at times, and it wasn't clear who led/owned the hiring process. This confusion continued with the offer and my first day of orientation.
