In my time with the company, I have learned a lot, and been given opportunities to contribute in many departments.

I have been working at Federal Signal full-time (more than 10 years)

Probably the most outstanding positive things about Federal Signal are work/life balance, training opportunities (you need to be your own advocate here, however), and generally friendly culture.

Generally lower-than-industry-average salary and sometimes limited professional advancement can be problematic. Accountability for many functions is also wanting, which makes for a difficult work environment at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication of strategy, as well as its implementation are areas for significant improvement.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Federal Signal in September 2011.

    Interview Details

Company currently does not have a Software Development Manager, interviewed by QA manager and junior developer. Casual conversation with QA Manager, junior developer seemed unprepared and asked no technical questions. Only relevant questions were along the lines of 'Have you used Websphere?'
Seems like a decent company, but there is some concern about the recent departure of the FS CEO and ongoing suit against FS regarding there ETC tags.
