I have been working at Federated Investors full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable employment in the investment management industry is a huge positive, they weathered the recent recession with few losses. Employees feel very comfortable in their employment situation. Many people make long careers here, promotions from within are possible.

    Cons

Salaries are rather below market, using the cost of living approach to justify. Pittsburgh has had quiet a Renaissance, and is no longer the bargain it once was. Promotions take a long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More respect for employee situation, perhaps an occasional visit with the ground troops would benefit management's understanding of the concerns of the employees. Reward good work, incentivize the employees, a review system which rewards good performance and discourages poor performance would be helpful.
