    I have been working at FetchPetCare as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    Lots of clients in small radius. The marketing and billing is done monthly for me. Great online software to manage scheduling, communication and client billing. Very organized. This job provides a lot of quiet, pleasant time, frequently outside. Great for someone who needs a second income or is a stay-at-homer. Since almost all the client contact is with pets, it is perfect for someone who prefers to work independently. Also, this company provides a 1099 which makes tax time simpler than other independent work.

    Cons

    Occasionally need to cover a greater distance which can be expensive, especially for a single visit. This job can be expensive, also, since it is a good idea for a sitter to keep their own equipment rather than rely on clients' equipment and supplies. It can take months to build up a client group that provides enough visits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    This particular franchise is being run very well! Might be able to provide links to more free, online continuing education for contracted sitters, such as pet first aid. These are pursued individually by sitters and can be very expensive.

    I applied online. The process took a day - interviewed at FetchPetCare in November 2009.

    Interview Details

    I met with two hiring managers (who turned out to be the franchise co-owners) and was asked about my history with pets/animals along with general customer service questions. It lasted about 30 minutes and was rather informal. I wore a suit with a tie, but was overdressed; a polo shirt and khakis would have sufficed.
