I have been working at Florida Office of the State Attorney

    Pros

The court room experience and the benefits are the best things about working there. You get some training, and fly by the seat of your pants on what you don't get trained on. Either way, you learn. Health insurance is also free (for attorneys).

    Cons

Salary is very low for an attorney, especially if you have law school loans. You may also end up working long hours on the evenings and weekends before trials. The salary really doesn't make up for it. You don't get monetary compensation for doing a good job or for being ambitious. If you're the ambitious kind who wants to make money, this is a good place for a 2-year "internship."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers are attorneys who were good trial attorneys. These "managers" need more management training. Employee relations are not their forte.
