I worked at Franklin Special School District

Class sizes are very reasonable. There is a lot of support for the classroom teachers (aides). Although I have not retired from this district, I understand their retirement plan is very generous compared to others in the area. Programs are tried that promise to help the children succeed.

There is the ubiquitous emphasis on "No Child Left Behind" testing, so the children are tested to death. Some of the teachers are very good at kvetching, but not very good at empathizing with the plight of the students, some of whom are native Spanish speakers, for whom English is a challenge in and of itself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the teachers on board a Positive Attitude Track - this will be reflected in the children. Teachers who constantly grouse about the kids won't be putting their best into their classroom.
