Why Underwritng?

Do you enjoy analyzing information and paying close attention to detail?

If so, then underwriting can be an excellent career choice. It is important for underwriters to demonstrate good judgment in order to make reliable and sound insurance decisions. Because much of the underwriter’s work involves dealing with agents and other insurance professionals, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

Why Claims?

Do you enjoy investigating and verifying facts? Do you love to negotiate?

If so, then a career as a Claims Examiner might be for you. Claims Examiners verify and analyze data used in settling claims to ensure that claims are valid and covered under the policy provisions and settlements are made according to company practices and procedures.

I applied through other source – interviewed at GNY Insurance Companies.

    Interview Details

I saw GNY was hiring entry level positions in the paper in March and applied then. They didn't contact me until 2 months later when they asked if I was still interested and called me in for an interview. I went to the interview and interviewed with the recruiter, the trainer, and 2 VP's of the company. The recruiter emailed me a few hours later and basically told me I had the job pending a background check. A week later I got the official offer.
