Paul Hooper Paul Hooper


Paul is the CEO of Gigamon, and was previously the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. Paul is a networking and high tech industry veteran who joined Gigamon from Extreme Networks where he held numerous executive positions including Chief Marketing Officer, Vice President and General Manager for the Volume Products Group, and Chief Information Officer. Paul has held a broad range of leadership positions in marketing, product development, business management, and information technology within a range of organizations including Extreme Networks, myCFO, Inc., JDS Uniphase, Netscape Communications, and Sun Microsystems.

Mike Burns


Mike Burns is the Chief Financial Officer of Gigamon. Mike brings over two decades of experience in finance, strategic planning, M&A and growth investing in public technology companies. Before joining Gigamon, he served as chief financial officer of Volterra Semiconductor for six years until its acquisition by Maxim Integrated. Prior to Volterra, Mike spent fifteen years at Intel Corporation where he held several senior financial positions. Mike received a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, as well as an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.

Shehzad Merchant Shehzad Merchant


Shehzad Merchant serves as our Chief Technology Officer of Gigamon bringing over 20 years of experience in the high-tech industry. Prior to joining Gigamon, Shehzad served as the CTO at Extreme Networks, and is the author of several networking and communications patents. He is a frequent speaker at various industry events including Interop and Open Networking Summit, and has been engaged with many standards bodies including the IEEE, IETF and ONF. Prior to Extreme Networks, he was the co-founder and VP of Products at Polytime Systems, following on from various senior architectural and research roles at Allied Telesyn, Nevis Networks and SRI. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Engineering from USC and an Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai.

Peter Finter Peter Finter


Finter brings more than 20 years of experience in the networking industry. Prior to joining Gigamon, Finter served as Vice President of Marketing for Juniper Networks, leading their Worldwide Field Demand Center. He previously led their Americas Marketing and Global Marketing Operations teams. While at Nortel, he also held various Vice President positions, including Americas Marketing & Sales Operations, Global Marketing Strategy & Operations and EMEA Marketing. Finter started his career in Sales, initially with GEC Telecommunications and then BT. He is an Electrical Engineering graduate of Imperial College, London, and a Chartered Engineer.

Sr. VP of Worldwide Sales

Helmut Wilke is Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales. He is a veteran in the information technology market and brings with him over 20 years’ experience in global sales. Prior to Gigamon, Helmut served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales leading sales, partners and operations for Ixia’s Visibility Business. Previously, he was the vice president of the US Western Region Enterprise and Partner Group for Microsoft, where he delivered business critical technology solutions to F1000 customers. In addition, he has also held key leadership roles in sales at Extreme Networks and Sun Microsystems. Helmut received a master's degree and doctor of Social Sciences from the Free University of Berlin, Germany.

Dave Cox is Vice President of Worldwide Operations. Dave brings more than 20 years of experience scaling global operations (manufacturing, supply chain, product fulfillment, services & support, IT, new product introduction, order management) for high growth technology companies. Prior to joining Gigamon, he served as Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations at Lytro. Previously Dave was Senior Vice President of Operations at Blue Coat Systems and has held leadership positions at Cisco, Quantum and Pluris. Dave attained his BA in International Relations from the University of California, Davis, and he holds an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Sr. Vice President of Engineering

Sachi Sambandan is the Sr. Vice President of Engineering. He brings over 25 years of experience in Cloud, Virtualization and Infrastructure domains at leading technology companies. Prior to joining Gigamon, he served as Vice President for VMware’s Hybrid Cloud Services R&D, and before that he was Vice President of engineering at Force10 Networks. Sachi Sambandan received a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the College of Engineering at Guindy, Chennai and went on to earn a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master's in Business Administration from Santa Clara University.

Paul Shinn Paul Shinn

General Counsel

Paul Shinn is the General Counsel for Gigamon and is charged with managing legal issues that include contracts, governance, compliance, merger & acquisitions, employment, and litigation management. Prior to joining Gigamon, Shinn served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel of HP’s Enterprise Group, where he was responsible for driving legal strategy and support across multiple disciplines. He has also held senior legal roles in commercial and corporate, securities and mergers & acquisitions at HP. Prior to joining HP, Shinn was senior counsel at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Shinn received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned his J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law.

    I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gigamon (Santa Clara, CA) in February 2015.


    After a recruiter screening I had two phone interviews with the hiring manager because we ran out of time on the first interview. It took a bit of time to set up the unperson interviews but I was early in their process and was able to meet with 5 people. The communications were good and expectations were set accordingly. They have beautiful new offices and the space was modern, open and bright. I was asked to show a portfolio in a subsequent interview but did not get the chance to showoff my work.

    • The interview questions were pretty standard and the team just wanted to dive into my experience to ensure a match with their needs. A typical starting question was: What makes you qualified for this position? They seem to have a strong marketing team and everyone was very professional.   Answer Question
